I'm putting the pages together for the Australia trip (not quite done yet...), and in the process I came across this picture of David, which is a capture from the video of David's first go-kart experience. They say a picture is worth 1000 words. Well, the video is worth 1000 laughs. I'll post a link later.
And I have to say, go-kart crashes run in the family. I laughed when this happened, not just because it was funny but because it brought back a story of my own. One summer when I was working at Battelle and living with Anne and Craig, the whole family took a trip to Wallowa Lake. We happened on some go-karts there for the guys to have some testosterone-filled fun. Well, I was going around a hairpin corner with Ron Deaton on the inside and me on the outside. He didn't want me to pass, so he pushed me out a bit, and I ran right into the huge water bucket that protected the staging area. WOOOOSH! The water barrel exploded with water everywhere. Of course, Ron just drove by laughing...and my ride was over.
