Australia - Day 10 - Currimundi and Caloundra
29th December, 2008.
Today was a pretty calm day for us. We got settled into our new
accomodations (a home exchange in Currimundi), found a local tourist center to
get information, went to the local library and checked out some books (woohoo!),
then went to the beach to play in the sand a bit.
Living in Thailand, there are many great things. One of the "creature comforts" we really miss, though, is having a library near by. Back in Seattle, we'd visit King County Libraries quite often, getting books, CDs, DVDs and participating in programs. Heck, even on our trip to Bali we found a local library for a painting program for David and a music program for me. So visiting the library is a rare luxury for us. After all was said and done, I had two new novels to read, Devin had two of her own, and David had two books to read through. I also found two CDs of music that interests me. Not a bad visit, I'd say.
After that we headed to the beach near Pumicestone Passage. The beach area here is quite shallow and without a lot of wave action, as it's protected by Bribie Island. What we weren't ready for was the current. It must have been the tide creating this, but we couldn't go out very far without the current taking us away. Needless to say, it kept us from venturing out as far as we normally do. It was quite a windy day, though, so there were lots of windsurfers, sailboats and kiteboarding going on. It was kind of fun to watch them all with their sports.
Otherwise, today was
a pretty calm day, without a lot of noteworthy news.. Below are a few
pictures from the beach. Nothing exciting...
