Australia - Day 4 - More diving for Lowell, Pool Volleyball for David
23rd December, 2008.
Today was a fantastic day for me. I got another day of SCUBA diving. And this day would not be disappointing at all. In fact, it was an amazing day filled with lots of sharks, a bull ray, a turtle, and lots of other cool stuff. Pictures from the day of diving can be found here. Other than the cool marine life, one of the fun parts of the day was getting to do a back roll into the water from the boat. I'm not sure why, but for some reason it's a bit more exhilarating than the typical giant stride entry off the back of a big dive boat.
While I was off diving, David played by the pool, enjoying some pool volleyball with the other kids. Devin took a nap and enjoyed the sun.
At dinner, we had a few interesting experiences. First, I ordered a lemonade and thought nothing of it. Until my drink arrived and it was Sprite. So I asked the waitress, and there was no mistake. I got a lemonade. She verified we were from the U.S. and thought maybe something called "Lift" or "Solo" would be what we called lemonade. "What the heck. I'll try it." So she returned a few minutes later with my long-awaited glass of lemonade...and it was Fresca! Oh well. I'll have to wait a while before I can find "real" lemonade.
We were on a local tourist spot called "Cavill Avenue." It's a pedestrian street lined with shops, etc. Across from our restaurant a street performer started his act by juggling some knives, etc. Later in the show, he ended up on a unicycle juggling knives. So David went to watch the show while I paid the bill. I said to David, "I'd never be able to juggle knives. If I tried it, I'd end up like this."
To which David replied, "No daddy, you'd end up like this."
Since I had the camera with me for diving, there aren't a lot of other pictures. But Devin used the disposable to take a few more pictures of David playing in the pool. When we get those pictures developed, I'll add them to the page.
