Quite a day!

The day started early for me, as I set my alarm for 5:00 AM to listen to Bob Rondeau call the play-by-play for the Husky Football victory over Boise State.  Woohoo!  Go Dawgs!  I get the radio call over the internet from GoHuskies.com.  David woke up around 7:00 or so, and since Devin put in a hard day working on Friday as a sub, I figured I'd let her sleep.  (Saturday night we went to a local pub to watch the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby team.  Quite fun, but I don't quite understand the game yet...)

There's a market up the road from us that I ride by every day in the van to school, so I figured this would be a good day to go visit. Most mornings, I see the Buddhist monks out gathering donations, but we didn't see any this morning.  So off David and I went.   (Pictures of our trip to the market below...)  Then we got home, had some breakfast, and it was off to the Jester's Fair.  It's a local fair put on my mostly ex-pats to raise money for local charities.  (Mostly for children's organizations, such as a school right near our house, etc.)  More pictures of that below.  I was so darn sore from walking around all day that I decided to get a massage.  Horrible stuff!  It was all of about $17 for a two-hour massage.  Life is rough!

But we're still having fun here.  Hope all of you are well.

And as always, click on the image for the larger version.

While walking to catch the Baht Bus for the ride to the market, we passed this "scaffolding" that was in front of a building.  I thought it was kind of interesting.  Probably stronger than it looks...

Here's the local Buddhist temple (wat) that is near our house.  I pass by it almost every day, and finally took time to take a picture.  Very beautiful architecture.

The beach by the market, looking back towards Naklua and our condo.

The line-up of fish at the market.  There were some interesting fish here.  (Skates and rays, sharks, shovelnose guitarfish, and lots of fish I didn't recognize.)

We decided to surprise Devin by getting her some flowers.  (Orchids, she says...I just call them purple flowers...)  This bouquet cost all of 10 Baht.  (Around 30 cents.)

And a big bunch of bananas was all of 20 Baht, or about 30 cents.

On our way to Jester's, David was already tired!

The entrance to the fair.

Our school had a few booths where kids ran games to raise money to donate.

David took his turn at "darts."

And at putting....

and at soccer...

David riding the plane "carousel."

And sleeping on the train...

Getting balloons from the clowns.

And a picture of a school group performing a song with dancing.  Very cool performance.

David actually awake on the train.

Sliding down the big blow-up slide.

And one of our teachers, Khun Gade, painting David's face.

And the final product.  (Khun Gade organized our raft trip from last weekend.)
